Anishinabe youth from Sagkeeng spearheading the run are humbly putting forth Sagkeeng First Nation to be recognized as the Eighth Fire settlement and create an epicenter for youth gatherings, learning, and cultural exchange for the next 10,000 years.
Upon discovering Seventh Fire generations of elders healed their trauma through arts and expression, their works have become artifacts of history. The proposed Grand Turtle Island Indigenous Museum (GTIIM) in Sagkeeng kickstarts learning for youth.
As mentioned in the Seven Fires (prophecies), the youths of the Eighth Fire will have a fork in the path with one leading to materialism-driven destruction and the other to eternal peace. Our cultural inheritance and traditions will steer us to a destiny of peace.
All indigenous nations across Turtle Island are welcomed to build heritage-inspired housing and cultural learning places in the Eighth Fire. This architecturally-immersive place will inspire you future youth and create an awe-inspiring Village of Peace.
